Max Blumenthal-The Christian United for Israel Tour
During the 2000 presidential campaign George
Bush stated, “I feel that God wants me to run for President. I
can’t explain it; … I know it won’t be easy on me or my
family, but God wants me to do it. Of course, we all know the reason
he thought that, he was told by the Christian Coalition group that
this is what God wanted. They knew that George would do their
bidding for them because he was stupid enough to believe that God
was telling him to run for President.
If you watched this video, you can see that those attending this
conference believe with all their hearts that they will be raptured
any day now, and it is their duty to "perfect" the Jews so
they can be raptured, too. They don't want to perfect the Democrats,
because they already know God hates us. He told them so.
If you've ever had the misfortune to read Tim LaHayes book, 'Left
Behind', you would have read the scenario of the upcoming events.
Pilots who are raptured while flying in planes leave the horrified
passengers who were not raptured on a one way trip to earth--nose
down. Cars that are being driven by the newly raptured Christians
are running over those in the street who were unfortunate enough to
be Jewish, Muslim, Catholics, or teenagers. Well, not all
teenagers. The young Republicans believe in abstinence, so I'm sure
they made the cut.
Joel
C. Rosenberg, who writes Christian apocalyptic fiction, said in an
interview that he was invited to a White House Bible study group in
2005 to talk about current events and biblical prophecy.
Rosenberg said that he came to speak to a "couple dozen"
White House aides in the Old Executive Office Building — and has
stayed in touch with several of them since.
Rosenberg wouldn't say exactly what was discussed. "The meeting
itself was off the record, as you could imagine," he said. He
declined to name the staffer he said invited him or describe the
attendees in any way other than to say that the president was not
among them. "I can't imagine they'd want to talk about
it," he said.
"I can't tell you that the people that I spoke with agree with
me, or believe that prophecy can really help you understand what
will happen next in the Middle East, but I'm not surprised that
they're intrigued."
If that doesn't send chills up your spine, I don't know what will.
In fact, I had the same creepy feeling when I heard Joe Lieberman
talk on that video when he addressed the Christian United for Israel
tour.
Recently, while appearing on Donny Deutsch's CNBC show, "The
Big Idea," Ann Coulter suggested that the U.S. would be a
better place if there weren't any Jewish people and that they needed
to "perfect" themselves into -- Christians. Not just any
Christian, but the Ann Coulter variety of Christian. You know, the
kind that hate gays and despise "liberals".
This group of fundamentalists believe that the anti-Christ is
already on this earth, and of course, they say he is Jewish. Word
has it, that he will be a man who promotes peace...and we can't have
that! God wants war! So, who is this anti-Christ? Rupert Murdoch?
Or, how about Joe Lieberman? No, wait---Joe wants war, so scratch
him off the list. Regis Philbin? I'm not sure. Since I'm Catholic
and not "saved", I don't think I can discern who the
anti-Christ is.
Well, I've always tried to be a gal who believes the glass is half
full, so I'm looking on the bright side of this rapture thing. Since
Ann Coulter said only Republicans will be in heaven, things will be
looking up around here...

If you get a chance, don't miss Max Blumenthal's latest video, Theocracy
Now! where he visited the Values Voters Summit. You'll love it,
he has it out with Michelle Malkin and her eyes looked like they
were going to pop out of her head. Very entertaining!
Now, I have to go pack my bags...just in case. What does one wear to
a rapture anyway? Should I go with the ashes and sack cloth, or just
go crazy and wear my pearls? Decisions...decisions.
This guy is saying some really reality based important things. He
will follow through. The MSM will not amplify his message. (one would
barely know he said them ) They give us distortion , misrepresenting his
not taking Corporate money and opting for public financing as "his
campaign is in trouble" that is pure BS. Its Edwards putting his
disdain for corporate ownership of the politicians , including lobbyists
into action. Its called Integrity. Watch more of his videos on
Immigration and other issues. He above all cares about the dignity and
innate intelligence and goodness of human beings. He cares about
fairness, and knows what it is
to be poor. This man wants the job of president. No, he is not perfect.
No body is. He has to speak out louder at debates. Lets hope he does
i.e. tomarrow on msnbc dem debates at 9 est.
Yeah , WE are an empire , a runaway train, the system we have is corrupt
and the Constitution is on life support, the workers are suffering low
wages, financial extreme pressures AND YET the people right now are not
ready for revolution. Recent events , mobilizations show, like it or not
its not getting through to government that 80% of this country are
against this illegal occupation. And that 80% is not taking to the
streets. And that sucks !! -BUT
Edwards would close Gitmo, give us universal health care, albeit not a
single payer, but we are not there yet, that could change, He supports
giving immigrants a road to citizenship and treating all people with
dignity. Stopping wholesale survailence, and so much more ! He also has
an appeal that reaches across lots of demographics really...not
"fringy" at all.
He has great heart and a fine legal mind. I want to try to get him
elected - is it only encouraging the empire voting ? In some ways yes,
but can we afford to have voters walk off in a huff ? - this is
the system we have. This guy has a good
shot to bring some integrity, common
sense , and heart back to it. He listens. He will go towards what
is fair and thats true when it comes to trade agreements as well. He is
head and shoulders closer to what the reality based community wants then
Hillary. And he could open a can of whoop ass on goulianni or mitmo in a
big way , JUST by articulating a heart felt, common sense, kitchen table
approach - he knows the average person is hurting both money wise and
spirit wise. And he knows people are NOT stupid.
Mostly he could save this country from fast track road to hell, any
rethuglican or bush clinton bush clinton dynasty would bring. And
Edwards victory in our primaries would put a mighty speed bump in this
road we are on as a nation. (also if anyone could incense the ditto
heads and get em to vote its hillary -big old target on her back) She
says she knows how to fight em cause she is one. A neo liberal to be
core.
Do we as Mirth of Liberally Mirth says have the WILL
to make this happen ? It is gonna take a lot more than blogging.
Its gonna take a lot of face to face conversations and education because
the MSM will not cover him. He will not
fold like a lawn chair - he will get the votes counted. And i am too
worried about our youth, our country, to remain in a huff and not vote.
Voting does not negate , any local actions that are more radical. Not
voting accomplishes nothing accept apeasing a mind set that its totally
behind hope. It may well be beyond hope, but the people living through
this , with the right leadership may not have to suffer quite so
horribly as our empire implodes. Voting may accomplish nothing but right
now its all we really have to work with. At least we could say we tried.
And as i have said work towards electoral reform. Work locally with
sustainable living and political affinity groups. Multi task!
Hoho!
Someone's been watching Fox News. Just before a visit to the UK,
Saudi King Abdullah deftly deflected the world's attention from
planned demonstrations against the kingdom's abysmal
human rights record by accusing
the Brits of not doing enough about terrorism. Huh?!
What?!
"Before
Abdullah arrived on Monday, he accused Britain of failing to act
on intelligence that might have prevented the 2005 London
transit bombings, touching off debate about the kingdom's
response to terror at the start of the first state visit by a
Saudi king in two decades." [...]
"I
believe that most countries are not taking this issue too
seriously, including, unfortunately, Great Britain," he said
through a translator. "We have sent information to Great
Britain before the terrorist attacks in Britain, but unfortunately
no action was taken and it may have been able to avert the
tragedy."
Well allrighty, then! Clearly
irony is alive and well in the House of Saud. Nobody's taking
terrorism seriously except the Saudis -- I suppose King Abdullah
could be right, just not for the reason he
thinks he is.
In other news -- oh look! Over
there! Shiny jingly jangly car keys!

What is making this
man levitate in front of the White House?
From Kay in Maine for White
Noise Insanity
Oh that’s right. He’s not levitating because he has
magic powers. Oh no! He’s levitating because of all the hot
air that emulates from the White House each and everyday! I
bet his voice is squeaky too.
A local bookstore had these quotations displayed in their front
window today:
"A well-instructed people alone can be permanently a free
people.
All men having power ought to be distrusted to a certain degree.
America was indebted to immigration for her settlement and
prosperity. That part of America which had encouraged them most
had advanced most rapidly in population, agriculture and the
arts.
And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as
every past one has done, in showing that religion and Government
will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed
together.
Each generation should be made to bear the burden of its own
wars, instead of carrying them on, at the expense of other
generations.
I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom
of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in
power than by violent and sudden usurpations.
If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the
guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made
by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that
they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be
understood.
No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual
warfare.
Of all the enemies of public liberty, war is perhaps the most to
be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every
other.
The executive has no right, in any case, to decide the question,
whether there is or is not cause for declaring war.
The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever
from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil
of Europe with blood for centuries.
War should only be declared by the authority of the people,
whose toils and treasures are to support its burdens, instead of
the government which is to reap its fruits.
Religion flourishes in greater purity, without than with the aid
of Government.
Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits
it for every noble enterprise, every expanded prospect.
In no instance have the churches been guardians of the liberties
of the people."
All right now, enough of this blasphemy! Who's the whiny
treehugger? (These quotes are all from the same person.)

The CHEERS ccript that could have ruined
us
From By
Ken Levine
With another Writers Guild strike looming, I thought I would add one
more day to my Sitcom
Room seminar next weekend.
I’d give all the participants signs and have them march around the
hotel.
One byproduct of a writers strike is that studios may shoot existing
scripts but may not change them. So jokes can’t be fixed, lines
can’t be tailored to actors, locations can’t be changed (too bad
if an exterior gets rained out – you can’t move inside to a new
location), and special effects have to be executed just as described
(whether they’re possible or not).
In 1985 there was also the possibility of a work stoppage. Back then
our contract ran
out March 1st, which was idiotic. We’d strike right as the TV
season ended. So we’d be out for four months before the producers
even knew it. All signs pointed to a peaceful resolution so life
went on as planned. NBC asked for a last minute additional episode
of CHEERS and David Isaacs and I were asked to write it. There was a
big time crunch, the show needed to start filming the following
week, so we had three days to write the script. The idea was we’d
bang out a draft, turn it in on Friday, we’d all polish it on
Monday and Tuesday, and on Wednesday it went into production.
We turned in the script on Friday afternoon and on Saturday
negotiations blew apart. An immediate strike was announced.
So now they had to film our very first draft, as is, no changes.
This was the first BAR WARS episode. Needless to say, show night was
one of the most terrifying nights of my life. I thought, “this is
where we’re discovered as frauds”. Amazingly, the show played
well. Not as well as it could have, don’t get me wrong. There were
plenty of places where jokes could be improved and turns could be
better finessed. But on the whole the show worked and there was no
noticeable drop in quality.
I’m sure several writers find themselves in that spot today. The
lesson here is that even if you’re only given three days to write
a whole script, don’t just knock it out. Give it your best, treat
it with the same care and hold it to the same standards you would
anything bearing your name. Because you never know.
And the good news is, for maybe the only time in your career, the
actors will HAVE TO say your words, as written. It’s almost worth
taking the assignment just for that.

Domestic Fascism Awareness Week
(Part 2)
By Blogenfreude for Agitprop
For the next installment of Domestic Fascism Awareness Week,
let's hearken back to an oldie
but a goody:
It’s time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to
acknowledge that he will be the commander in chief for three
more critical years and that in matters of war we undermine
presidential credibility at our nation’s peril.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson made the list for remarking to an
audience at Harvard Law School that America should build
bridges and relationships, not simply bombs and walls.
Joel Beinin, a professor of Middle Eastern history at
Stanford University, earned a place on it for his opinion
that If Osama bin Laden is confirmed to be behind the
attacks, the United States should bring him before an
international tribunal on charges of crimes against
humanity. And Wasima Alikhan of the Islamic Academy of
Las Vegas was there simply for saying Ignorance breeds
hate.
All three were included on a list of 117 anti-American
statements heard on college campuses that was compiled by
the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, a conservative
nonprofit group devoted to curbing liberal tendencies in
academia. The list, part of a report that was posted on the
group's Web site (www.goacta.org/Reports/defciv.pdf) last
week, accuses several dozen scholars, students and even a
university president of what they call unpatriotic behavior
after Sept. 11.
Calling professors the weak link in America's response
to the attack, the report excoriates faculty members for
invoking tolerance and diversity as antidotes to evil
and pointing accusatory fingers, not at the terrorists,
but at America itself.
Sounds a lot like something another Joe would
do - McCarthy, that is.
This brings up two troubling questions at the outset:
1. Other than diplomatic immunity (and it has never been suggested
that Blackwater Employees are diplomats) the State Department has
no authority to grant immunity against prosecution in a U.S.
court. That is the prerogative of the Justice Department. This
could be the first real test of the new Attorney General, to see
whether Mukasey points this fact out to the State Department and
then how he proceeds from there;
2. The FBI is not yet done investigating, so the quickness of the
State Department to grant immunity not only continues and expands
on the unilateralism that has been a hallmark of George W. Bush's
administration, but also suggests that they are hiding something
and fear that a trial might bring it out into the open. What are
they hiding?

Your President
Inaction
From Christy Hardin Smith for Firedoglake
Oh
look. It’s President Bush…on his way to another
GOP fundraiser. Or several. The fact that they
still raise any money using George W. Bush as their
headliner says a lot about the state of today’s
Republican party, doesn’t it?
Sure glad we’re getting our tax dollars worth out
of him. Because W sure does pay attention to
all the little details (H/T RevDeb) of the important
issues of the day — and does an incredible imitation of
follow-up…as long as the cameras are rolling, anyway. For
instance (H/T Froomkin):
As it happens, President Bush has been aware of the
hole for some time — and deserves some of the blame for
not fixing it earlier. Confronted about it in public more
than a year ago, Bush literally laughed off the question
— and then, tellingly, described his response as a case
study in how he does his job….
Student: “I was hoping your answer might be a little
more specific. (Laughter.) Mr. Rumsfeld answered that Iraq
has its own domestic laws which he assumed applied to
those private military contractors. However, Iraq is
clearly not currently capable of enforcing its laws, much
less against — over our American military contractors. I
would submit to you that in this case, this is one case
that privatization is not a solution. And, Mr. President,
how do you propose to bring private military contractors
under a system of law?”
Bush: “I appreciate that very much. I wasn’t
kidding — (laughter.) I was going to — I pick up the
phone and say, Mr. Secretary, I’ve got an interesting
question. (Laughter.) This is what delegation — I
don’t mean to be dodging the question, although it’s
kind of convenient in this case, but never — (laughter.)
I really will — I’m going to call the
Secretary and say you brought up a very valid question,
and what are we doing about it? That’s how I work.
I’m — thanks. (Laughter.)” (emphasis
mine)

Democrats Still
Clueless on Iraq
By Christopher for
From the
Left
Democrats are debating
whether to approve $50 billion to $70 billion for Iraq and
Afghanistan, less than half of Bush’s $196 billion request
but enough to keep the wars afloat for several more months.
Such a move would satisfy party members who want to spare
the Pentagon from a painful budget dance and support the
troops as Congress considers its next major step on Iraq.
But it would also irritate scores of other Democrats, who
want to pay only to bring troops home and who say their
leadership is not doing enough to end the war.
At least one Democrat gets it. Rep. Lynn Woolsey of
California said:
“I cannot vote for another dollar that will
be used to continue the president’s occupation of
Iraq.”
But on the table are estimates of $40 billion to $70
billion — with $50 billion considered the most likely
scenario.
Many Democrats say the money is necessary if Congress
passes an annual defense spending bill without any war
funding. If left without a “bridge fund” to fill the gap
until Congress takes up the full $196 billion request, the
Pentagon would have to divert money from less urgent
accounts to pay for immediate war requirements — an
approach military officials warn is disruptive and
inefficient.
These Democrats also say they want to avoid giving the
public perception that the party is turning its back on the
troops.

The Coming New World
Order
By Larry for Lydia
Cornell
The
term New World Order (NWO) has been used by numerous
politicians for many years, and is a generic term used to
refer to a worldwide conspiracy being created by an
extremely powerful and influential group of individuals
(at least at the highest levels) which include many of the
world's wealthiest people, top political leaders, and
corporate elite, as well as members of the so-called whose
goal is to create a One World Government, stripped of
nationalistic and regional boundaries, that is totally
obedient to their agenda.
The corporate alliance of the NWO is dominated by
international bankers, oil companies and pharmaceutical
cartels, as well as other major multinational
corporations. The decision making nerve centers of this
effort are in London, Basel Switzerland, and Brussels
(NATO headquarters).
The intention of the New World Order is to gain complete
control over every person and to eventually reduce the
world's population by nearly two-thirds. This would give
the ultra elite of the world the opportunity to create the
"perfect society" in their minds.
Many see obvious signs within the political realm that
point to this becoming a reality, sooner than we think.
The bulging Mideast wars, the rapid collapse of the U.S
economy, and the reduction of many of the rights and
freedoms previously enjoyed in America.
In 1992, Dr John Coleman published Conspirators Hierarchy:
The Story of the Committee of 300. With laudable
scholarship and meticulous research, Dr Coleman identifies
the players and carefully details the New World Order
agenda of worldwide domination and control. On page 161 of
the Conspirators Hierarchy, Dr Coleman accurately
summarizes the intent and purpose of the Committee of 300
as follows: "A One World Government and one-unit monetary
system, under permanent non-elected hereditary
oligarchists who self-select from among their numbers in
the form of a feudal system as it was in the Middle Ages.
In this One World entity, population will be limited by
restrictions on the number of children per family, wars,
famines, until 1 billion people who are useful to the
ruling class, in areas which will be strictly and clearly
defined, remain as the total world population.
There will be no middle class, only the extremely rich and
the extremely poor. All laws will be similar under a legal
system of world courts practicing the same code of laws,
backed up by a One World Government police force and a One
World unified military force to enforce laws in all former
countries where no national boundaries shall exist.
The system will be on the basis of a welfare state; those
who are obedient and subservient to the One World
Government will be rewarded with the means to live; those
who are rebellious will simply be starved to death or be
declared outlaws, thus a target for anyone who wishes to
kill them. Privately owned firearms or weapons of any kind
will be prohibited."
The NWO conspirators manifest their agenda through the
skillful manipulation of human emotions, especially fear.
In the past centuries, they have repeatedly utilized a
plan that NWO researcher and author David Icke has
characterized in his latest book, The Biggest Secret, as
Problem, Reaction, and Solution.
According to Icke, NWO strategists create the Problem by
funding,assembling, and training an "opposition"
group to stimulate turmoil in an established political
power (sovereign country, region, continent, etc.) that
they wish to impinge upon and thus create opposing
factions in a conflict that the NWO themselves maneuvered
into existence. In recent decades, so called opposition
groups are usually identified in the media as 'freedom
fighters' or "liberators."
Meanwhile the leader of the established political power
where the war is being orchestrated is demonized
and, referred to as "another Hitler" such as they
did with Saddam Hussein.
The war is drawn to the world stage by the controlled
media outlets with a barrage of photos and video tape
reports of bloody deaths suffered by innocent civilians.
The leaders of all major industrial countries like the
United States, England, Germany, Italy, Australia, New
Zealand, etc. are active participants in this conspiracy.
In this century, the degree of control exerted by the NWO
has advanced to the point that only certain hand-picked
individuals, who have been specifically chosen, are even
eligible to become the Prime Minister or President of
countries like England, Germany, or The United States.
It is said that many of the major wars, economic upheavals
and political dissension over the past several years was
created and instituted by this elitist group. These
various tragedies brought profit to those of the corporate
powers involved, the greater gain will be the unveiling of
the New World Order.
Is there a New World Order? Was the installation of George
W Bush into the presidency, the unwarranted attack on Iraq
and soon Iran, the coming economic collapse, and the
taking of Americans rights and privacy a part of it?
Perhaps the actions of George W Bush and those who appear
to enable him, coupled with famous quotes of the past from
those in positions to know can answer that very question.
"Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the
field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of
something. They know that there is a power somewhere so
organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so
complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak
above their breath when they speak in condemnation of
it." - Woodrow Wilson
"[The New World Order] cannot happen without U.S.
participation, as we are the most
significant single component. Yes, there will be a New
World Order, and it will force the United
States to change it's perceptions." -- Henry
Kissenger, World Affairs Council Press Conference,
Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel , April 19th 1994
I
e-mailed Senators Gordon Smith, Ron Wyden and Harry Reid and
representatives Greg Walden and Nancy Pelosi last night. The
Senators came first, but by the time I finally e-mailed Mr.
Walden it had sort of degenerated into the following:
Dear Representative Greg Walden,
I do not understand the Bush administration's
apparent obsession with (and preparations for) militarily
attacking Iran. With our country already involved in one war
in Afghanistan and one in Iraq, I do not believe our
military would be capable of adding a third war.
I still believe the war in Afghanistan was somewhat
justified, and that our efforts should be concentrated
there, now, in capturing Osama Bin Laden and other militant
Al Qaeda leaders. I do not believe the Iraq war was
justified at all. I do not believe attacking Iran would be
anything but disastrous for our country and for the rest of
the world. Please, do what you can to help keep such madness
at bay until a new administration can take over.
I tend to vote left, but I will consider voting for
anybody who does not endorse the current administration's
foreign policy and who will not endorse the continuation of
those policies in the next administration, whether it be
Democrat or Republican.
I am also very concerned about what I view as the
Bush administration's abuse of our Constitution in regard to
illegal wiretapping and concentrating too much power in the
presidency. Their creation of a strong unilateral executive
is hastening the end of America as we know it, in my
opinion. I fear that our country is heading toward fascism,
and I don't believe Congress is doing enough to reverse the
Bush/Cheney power grab! Please do what you can to help
during the next 447 days. That is way too much time left for
the Bush administration to create more trouble for America.
I read your SCHIP letter (requesting
"bipartisan cooperation" from Nancy Pelosi). I
understand how you don't want kids who are not from poverty
level getting free health care, but I can't believe that
while the administration won't support SCHIP it is more than
ready to pour about seven times that much money down what is
arguably the biggest money pit in our nation's history.
While you do good work in Congress for the interests of your
district's constituents, as with timber dollars (thank you!)
it dismays that you are out of step with America in regard
to national issues. This is shown by the way you don't seem
willing to help the U.S. to find its way out of Iraq sooner
than later, and in the way you are unwilling to support
giving all Americans the same level of health care the
president gets. If you are going to use words such as
"bipartisan", which suggest compromise, I wish you
and other Republican leaders would take a genuine bipartisan
stance when discussing the Bush administration's foreign
policy, and also take a genuine bipartisan stance on Bush
and Cheney's power grab.
Do you not realize that unless some of the
administration's unconstitutional power-grabbing is
reversed, there is a very real chance that 1) our country
could be soon involved in three wars at one time, and that
2) Hillary Clinton or another Democrat could wield much more
power than you want her to after 1/20/09? I do not want to
see the first situation come to fruition, and it makes me
queasy to think of any presidential administration having
the kinds of unchecked powers the Bush administration
currently has.
I think such scenarios could be avoided if you and
many other Republicans in Congress would demonstrate some
independent thought and not adhere so tightly to the
Bush/Cheney line. It would make our country stronger and it
would help us avoid disaster overseas.
(I added a comment about not being so far left that I
want to shut down farmers, ranchers and the timber industry,
and thanked him again for his efforts to keep alive the bases
of our local economy).
SNAVE'S NOTE: Whether or not you agree with the
sentiments I expressed in the letter, I believe you need to
write or call your Senators and Representatives in Congress.
Let them know how you feel. Sometimes I have to wonder if a
major reason they are so out of touch could be that not enough
of us give them our opinions. Sure, that is probably very
naive, given the amount of money these people take in from
various sources, but hey... if we don't tell them what we
think, they won't know what we think, correct? Time to get
busy writing and calling. My messages to the other elected
officials were more mellow than this one to Mr. Walden, but
WHATEVER.
This is the day and age of television, which Al Gore
accurately describes (in his most recent book) as a
"one-way" medium, with which people do not interact.
This isn't like the times when Americans got their information
from reading newspapers (to which they wrote lots of letters)
or from town hall meetings (which involved actual
participation and exchanges of information). Nowadays, the
"marketplace of ideas" is controlled by television
and to an extent, radio. This has contributed to the crushing
of reason in debates, and to the informational dumbing down of
America. Gore sees the internet as an interactive medium, and
he thinks it could be what might save democracy. I'm not sure
how much I agree with that, because I think there is far too
much money involved anymore for things to change a whole
lot... but I do believe there is power in the internet. We
have seen the success of left-wing organizational efforts
during the past decade. Right-wingers have made some gains as
well. People will talk and will be heard, if they are allowed
the opportunity. The internet allows the talking much more
than radio and television do, anyway.
We need to keep blogging, and we need to write, e-mail or
call our elected officials, and often.
The Great Watch Out
Continues
By Grace Nearing for Scriptoids
The Great Watch Out is my self-imposed avoidance of cable news
programming (excluding the first 30 minutes of Countdown).
The first 2 weeks have been bloody marvelous. My eyes are clearer.
My coat -- I mean my hair -- is shinier. The teeth-gnashing has
ceased. My will to live has returned!
Last Friday I sneaked a
random peek at MSNBC and this is what I caught.
TUCKER CARLSON: Let‘s be totally
honest, I don‘t think the Clintons kill people.
I don‘t think they killed Vince Foster. I was never a
conspiracy nut.
ROSA BROOKS (LA Times): That[’s] really big of you Tucker.
CARLSON: Well, I give the benefit of the doubt to people I
disagree with, unlike a lot of people these days who think that
Bush was behind 9/11. But let me say that Hillary is tough and
the people around her are extraordinarily tough and if you live
in Washington, you are kind of a freelance intellectual, like
you, Rosa, and you say things that publicly doubt Mrs. Clinton,
in some sense, you are going to be punished for that and you
know it, don‘t you?
BROOKS: I live in fear.
CARLSON: You don‘t care! But a lot of people here do care.
They do care.
Because they keep track.
